Thyme in the Garden...a scrapbook

Well, as promised I am sharing some of my garden scrapbook inspiration with you today.  When we built our home around 8 or 9 years ago now, I told my hubby, I must have a garden...you see nature is so very important to me. I don't think I could live in the city, for I love wide open spaces and room to breathe.  Our garden is certainly a work in progress, but one that I have enjoyed immensely. I am working on creating 'garden rooms', for I love the concept of being able to wander from one part of the garden to the next, and even the idea of themes. I love the colourful mosaics in the photo above, and have been quite successful in making some for my own garden, and those of friends and families.
This little garden room is wonderful...I love the colour blue in the garden - the combination with all the green is just fantastic. The pop of colour from the leadlight (another great love of mine, and yes I have tried it myself, but became quite frustrated!) adds a whimsical, romantic touch. I also love the idea of being enveloped by garden, and just love walking beneath canopies of vines and trees. There is something so magical about it. I am particularly drawn to woodland style gardens, dotted with beautiful statuary. (You all know my love for fairies and such).  I also love water features in the garden, and there is something undeniably soothing about relaxing with the sound of trickling water from a fountain or water feature.

Isn't this a cute idea? A fish pond made from an old bathtub...

How about this Balinese inspired rooftop garden? I love the doorways leading to to other secret spaces.

This pic is from a beautiful book I have told you about before called 'Velvet Pears' - so very romantic.
Another gorgeous garden room...I love the angel statue.

I want to leave you with this beautiful mosaic...some of the images are mine, the rest you will find beneath the photo. Did I mention that a tree-house is also on my wish list for the garden?

  1. Hi Tina! What a beautiful post. I love gardens, too. Very lush and green - with lots of flowers of all types and vegetation. We have a small yard but we manage to make the most of it. In fact, most of the yard IS garden! LOL Thanks for such beautiful nature eye-candy. Take care! Theresa

  3. I love your idea of a scrapbook for ideas. I think I will make one too. Our garden is a work in progress too. Each year I try to add more plants when I get the money. I figure in about 5 years I might have the garden I have been dreaming about. HA! HA!

  5. Oh! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Today, the breeze is warm through the windows and the plants and yard beckons me to come and add some color. So, your site is what I needed for inspiration. If you have time, a nice US southernly garden read is A Well Placed Read by Ryan Gainey. It is quite elegant and looks at the garden as having many rooms. Have fun in your garden. Peace. Brianne

  8. These Garden Rooms are enchanting and so inspirational. The Balinese one in particular captured my Heart! I have yet to try my hand at a mosaic (except a photographic one, which I learned quite recently), but that is a lovely idea for a Pedestal and Urn in a Garden setting.

As usual you are magical, enchanting and inspiring! I love looking at pictures of gardens....and dreaming of having one of my own.....I have the yard for it and have even claimed a part of the yard for my own....to start creating my space.....but there are SO many roots that I'm having trouble planting stuff.....so I might try more containers this year. 11. Beautiful post, Tina. Gardens as well as any place on one's property can become a den of romance and respite. Our pasture is bedecked with many Russian olives that serve as great canopies with their giant weeping branches. I love to host parties as well as intimate settings under those silvered branches. I enhance the natural beauty with pretty pillows, blankets, candles, books, and whatever else the day calls for. Then slip away under the trees to enjoy a peaceful day.

These images are to die for ... they give me much inspiration for this year's soirees. That is, if spring ever gets here! :))) Don't you just love watching these special places change during the seasons? During winter's clench, it's as if I carry a secret stirring in my heart ... for I know all too soon that barren space will will unfurl, beckoning me to embrace its peacefulness! :))

As always, thank you for such a beautiful post!
